Common AdBlue Problems on the Land Rover

Has an AdBlue fault message appeared on your Range Rover or Discovery? Or maybe a warning that the engine will be prevented from starting soon? Our mobile AdBlue Delete and AdBlue Removal service for diesel Land Rovers is performed right where your vehicle is parked.

  • AdBlue warning light

What it means: A yellow or amber AdBlue, UREA or emissions symbol on the dashboard.

When you contact us: send your Land Rover registration and a photo of the message.

  • Engine restart countdown

What it means: A message such as "No engine start in 500 miles". It counts down as you drive.

When you contact us: send your Land Rover registration and a photo of the message.

  • UREA or emissions system warning

What it means: A message telling you to service the emissions or AdBlue system.

What we do

Mobile AdBlue Delete & Removal for Your Land Rover

Our mobile specialists can assess your enquiry using your vehicle details and explain the available AdBlue service options. Once suitability, price and an appointment have been confirmed, we arrange attendance at an appropriate location.

AdBlue Delete and AdBlue Removal both refer to our software-only service. Our process involves modifying your Land Rover's engine software to bypass the AdBlue system entirely. This stops it from running or being monitored, which clears any related dash warnings or countdown timers. We do not touch or replace any physical parts. Before we book you in, we first check your vehicle's suitability using its registration number. If we determine we cannot perform the work, we will let you know immediately.

  • The AdBlue warning and restart countdown are cleared
  • No more buying or topping up AdBlue fluid
  • Done at the vehicle, wherever it is parked
  • No Fix, No Fee: if the job cannot be completed, you pay nothing
  • Eligible work carries a lifetime software warranty

Land Rover AdBlue Information

Numerous diesel Land Rover and Range Rover models equipped with Ingenium engines feature an AdBlue system. These include the Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport, Velar, and the modern Defender. We use your registration to confirm the exact specification of your vehicle.

Land Rover AdBlue Delete and Removal Overview

SCR uses AdBlue to help reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. On equipped Land Rover diesels, low fluid levels or certain system faults can trigger a restart countdown. The warning does not by itself identify a defective part.

  • Confirm SCR fitment using vehicle details
  • Record the exact warning and remaining countdown
  • Read fault codes and relevant live data
  • Check the cause before selecting the next step
Land Rover Models with Relevant SCR-Equipped Diesels

Fitment varies by engine, production date and market specification. The model ranges below contain relevant UK SCR-equipped diesel versions, but the names alone do not confirm AdBlue fitment. Some late Discovery 4 diesels are also relevant. The original Defender should not be confused with the newer L663. Send your registration before booking.

  • Range Rover, including relevant L405 and L460 diesels
  • Range Rover Sport, including relevant L494 and L461 diesels
  • Range Rover Evoque: relevant 2.0-litre diesel versions
  • Range Rover Velar: relevant diesel versions
  • Discovery: relevant late Discovery 4 and Discovery 5 diesels
  • Discovery Sport: relevant 2.0-litre diesel versions
  • Defender L663: relevant diesel versions from its 2020 introduction
SCR Fitment and Diesel Engine Families

Relevant engines include SCR-equipped versions of the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel, 3.0-litre TDV6/SDV6, 4.4-litre SDV8 and later 3.0-litre Ingenium straight-six diesels. Not every version of these families has identical emissions equipment. Power badges such as D200 do not uniquely identify engine capacity or cylinder layout. The AdBlue filler position also varies: an under-bonnet filler does not mean the tank is in the engine bay. Check the handbook and filler labelling rather than cap colour alone.

  • Confirm engine and build specification rather than relying on badges
  • Check the handbook for the correct DEF filler location
  • Send your registration to help verify the fitted system
Land Rover AdBlue Warning Messages

Wording and countdown distances vary by model and software. Warnings may concern low diesel exhaust fluid, incorrect fluid quality, dosing malfunction or a restriction on restarting. A full tank does not rule out a genuine dosing, pressure or catalyst problem. An 'Exhaust Filter Full' message concerns the diesel particulate filter and is not, by itself, evidence of an SCR fault. Send a photo of the exact message and your registration.

  • Diesel exhaust fluid level warning
  • Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality warning
  • Diesel exhaust fluid dosing malfunction warning
  • Distance remaining before restarting is prevented
Land Rover Fault Code Guide

JLR-specific suffixes, freeze-frame data and guided tests help identify the cause. An efficiency code does not automatically mean a failed catalyst, and an injection-valve code does not prove crystallisation. Share the full scan report where possible.

  • P20EE: SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold, bank 1
  • P2BAF: NOx system driver inducement active
  • P208E: Reductant injection valve stuck closed, bank 1 unit 1
  • P2047: Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
  • P20E8: Reductant pressure too low
Mobile Land Rover AdBlue Assessment

Coverage, access requirements and the scope of work can then be confirmed. Some faults need further workshop testing or recovery; software work alone cannot resolve every cause of a countdown or non-start.

Technical terms in plain English
AdBlue (also called UREA or DEF)
A fluid many modern diesels use to clean their exhaust. The car monitors it closely and warns you when it thinks something is wrong.
SCR system
The part of the exhaust that uses AdBlue. When it reports a fault, the dashboard warnings and countdown appear.
NOx sensor
A sensor that measures exhaust gases. A faulty reading is one of the most common reasons the warning appears.
ECU
The vehicle's main computer. Our service is software work carried out on it, at your vehicle.

Ask an AdBlue Specialist on WhatsApp

Land Rover: questions owners ask us

Is the Range Rover family of vehicles covered?+

Yes. We frequently perform software work on diesel versions of the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, and Velar.

My car has started the no-start countdown. What's the next step?+

Please get in touch with us immediately, letting us know how many miles are left on the counter. Booking a visit before the countdown ends is significantly more straightforward.

What is the difference between AdBlue Removal and AdBlue Delete?+

There is no difference. These are simply two common terms for the identical software modification.

Can you perform the work at my location?+

Yes, we operate as a fully mobile service throughout England. A technician can visit you at home, your workplace, or any other suitable location.

How can I get a quote?+

For a quote, please provide your vehicle's registration number, your postcode, and a picture of the dashboard warning light. You can send this information via WhatsApp, our website form, or by calling us. We will verify your vehicle is suitable and provide a fixed price before you commit to a booking.

Which Land Rover models use AdBlue?+

AdBlue Delete and Removal enquiries depend on the exact vehicle. Many UK Euro 6 Land Rover diesels use SCR with AdBlue, with adoption around the 2015 to 2016 model-year transition on several ranges. Relevant versions include Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Velar and the newer L663 Defender. Earlier diesels, including the original Defender and earlier 2.2-litre Evoque and Discovery Sport versions, should not be assumed to have SCR. Send your registration so we can check.

What causes a Land Rover AdBlue warning?+

Possible causes include low or unsuitable fluid, dosing faults, insufficient reductant pressure, wiring faults, NOx sensor problems or reduced SCR catalyst efficiency. Software may need checking on some vehicles, but a warning alone does not establish the cause.

Can I get an AdBlue Delete quote for my Land Rover?+

Send your registration, postcode, dashboard warning and any scan results to request a quote. The available service and cost need to be confirmed for the vehicle and fault; registration alone may not establish the exact ECU software or work required.

What does AdBlue Removal involve for Land Rover?+

AdBlue Removal generally refers to modifying ECU software to disable SCR-related operation or monitoring. The programming method and affected functions vary by ECU.

Which faults affect SCR and NOx systems on relevant Land Rover diesels?+

Possible faults include injector deposits, pump or pressure problems, heater faults, wiring damage, NOx sensor faults and SCR efficiency faults. P20EE concerns SCR NOx catalyst efficiency; P2BAF indicates that NOx-system driver inducement is active.

What engine/year details do you need?+

Start with your registration, model and year. Further vehicle identification may be needed to confirm fitment.

Can you help at my postcode?+

Send your postcode so mobile coverage and appointment availability can be confirmed. Also tell us whether the engine starts and whether the vehicle is in a safe, accessible location. A roadside or immobilised vehicle may need recovery rather than an on-site visit.

How do I send my Land Rover fault code?+

Include your registration and postcode, and keep any code suffixes and descriptions visible.

Do you replace AdBlue parts on the Land Rover?+

No. We specialise in mobile software AdBlue Delete and Removal for compatible cars and vans. We do not replace tanks, pumps, heaters, injectors or NOx sensors. Send your registration and postcode and we'll confirm whether the Land Rover is suitable, with the price agreed before work starts.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?+

Yes. Our normal business hours are 8 AM to 8 PM, Monday to Sunday, and we also offer a 24/7 emergency callout service across England. We confirm the price with you before a technician is sent.
