Why an AdBlue countdown appears

An AdBlue countdown can appear when the fluid level is low or when the vehicle detects a fault affecting the Selective Catalytic Reduction system. Warning wording, symbols and remaining distance vary between manufacturers and software versions. A message stating that starting will be prevented generally concerns a subsequent engine restart, rather than the engine stopping while driving. Follow the vehicle handbook and arrange assessment before the allowance expires.

• Record the exact message and remaining distance.
• Check whether the display requests a refill or reports an emissions fault.
• For a refill warning, follow the handbook's fluid specification, minimum quantity and recognition procedure.
• Do not assume topping up will clear a fault-related countdown.

Part 2

Vehicle fitment and diagnostic codes

Countdown warnings occur on various SCR-equipped diesels, including many Peugeot and Citroën BlueHDi models and selected Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen and Ford variants. Branding, engine size or year alone does not confirm the SCR configuration. P20E8 means reductant pressure too low; P208E means reductant injection valve stuck closed, with any bank or unit designation checked against vehicle-specific information. Part 3

AdBlue Delete and Removal: understanding the options

Delete and Removal usually describe disabling SCR functions through software, not restoring the system. Repair addresses the underlying fault, while Fix is a broad service term. No option should be presented as a guaranteed cure based only on the displayed mileage. Establish whether the warning is level-related or fault-related, confirm the stored codes and test the relevant components before agreeing the scope of work.

Mobile diagnosis and AdBlue Delete & Removal

Send your postcode to check mobile availability and whether the parking location is suitable for the required work. Diagnosis may include checking fluid level and quality, leaks, wiring, reductant pressure, injector operation and NOx sensor readings. Heater faults or crystallisation may also need investigation where the codes and tests support it. Some repairs require parts or facilities that cannot be provided during an initial mobile visit. After repair, the vehicle may need a specified reset or verification drive before the countdown clears.
